Frequently asked questions
CloseFind answers about Hashi puzzle rules, daily challenges and Hashimania accounts. Learn how bridges work, how progress is saved and how rankings work.
Can I play without creating an account?
Yes. You can play the daily puzzle for free and choose a difficulty without registering. You need a free account to appear on leaderboards, save your progress through 500 levels and access quick games.
Do I need to install anything to play on my phone?
No. Hashimania runs in your browser on both phones and computers. On a phone, you can build and remove bridges by tapping between islands; on either device, you can also drag from one island to another.
Does everyone play the same daily puzzle?
Yes, everyone gets the same puzzle for a given date and difficulty. Each difficulty has its own puzzle and leaderboard, so you can share the challenge and compare results with people playing the same one.
What is the difference between the daily puzzle, levels and quick games?
The daily puzzle offers a new challenge every day at each difficulty. The 500 levels form a campaign where you save progress and advance in rank. In a quick game, you choose a difficulty and receive a new puzzle generated at that moment.
How many bridges can connect two islands?
One or two. Each bridge counts towards both islands’ numbers. You can only connect islands aligned horizontally or vertically, without passing through other islands or crossing bridges.
Why is a solution invalid if all the numbers match?
All islands must also form a single network. If separate groups remain, the puzzle is not solved yet. Check the connections between those groups.
Does marking an island check whether it is correct?
No. Marks help you organise your solving and remember which islands you think are complete. To check the puzzle, press “Check solution”.
When does the timer start?
The timer starts when you press “Start”. Before then, you can study the puzzle and choose a difficulty without the timer running.
Can I change the controls?
Yes, through “Controls” in your account menu. There are mouse and touch screen options. If you change the default controls, the tutorial becomes unavailable until you restore them.
When do I move up a rank?
When you complete the last level of the previous range. For example, completing level 5 makes you an Apprentice; completing level 15 makes you a Builder. Rank badges open the rank guide, except in the header and “Levels”.
Is the daily puzzle email required?
No. You can enable it when creating your account or editing your profile. You can disable it in your profile or through the unsubscribe link in each email.
How do I change my cookie choice?
Open Cookiesin the page footer and press “Change preferences”. You can accept or reject analytics; your choice does not prevent you from playing.
